Our Story

It all began when it was announced that the Supported Accommodation sector (formerly Semi-independent 16 -18 years old) would be regulated.

Many Providers approached Taremtec Ltd seeking help regarding the registration and inspection process. Taremtec is a company that provides care management solutions to the Supported Accommodation sector.

In response to the requests received, Taremtec held a series of free webinars, whereby we invited consultants to come and provide guidance and advice on how to be compliant with Ofsted requirements.

In addition, we were also privileged to have the Ofsted Regional Inspection Manager for Supported Accommodation, and the Ofsted Project Director for Supported Accommodation to come and allay Providers’ concerns about the registration process.

It was after the meeting with the two senior Ofsted officials that providers approached us to formally set up an association that would be a voice for them and to provide the resources required to run their provision effectively and efficiently. They also want to have a platform or forum whereby they can share information and best practices together, which will be beneficial.

It was as a result of these requests that the WhatsApp group and the Supported Accommodation Providers’ Association (SAPA) were formed.

• Engage experienced advocates who would lobby and voice the concerns of members to important stakeholders such as Ofsted, Department of Education, Local Government, and MPs in parliament.

•          Organise webinars and events whereby commissioning officers and placement managers would be invited to advise members on what they need to do in order to increase their chances of receiving more placements.

•          Policy updates

•          Organise training events that would enable providers and their staff to be compliant with ongoing Ofsted requirements.

•          Plus much more….

As the membership of SAPA is free, the running costs would be financed through the income generated by its commercial activities. We are also dedicated to exploring cost saving initiatives on behalf of the group.

This partly came about because of the frequent requests made by its members in the group for recommendations for products and services.
